Wolves 2-1 Tottenham LIVE: Spurs suffer late collapse as Postecoglou loses back-to-back matches

June 2024 · 6 minute read

Tottenham travel to Molineux this weekend to face Wolves in the Premier League, and it's live on talkSPORT.

Spurs' unbeaten start to the season was ended on Monday night as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at home to Chelsea.

But the scoreline doesn't tell the full story as the London giants found themselves down to nine men and had plenty of chances to equalise at 2-1.

However, it wasn't to be, and they must now bounce back against a good Wolves side.

The Old Gold have already taken points off Manchester City and Newcastle at home, so they will feel they can get something here.

Gary O'Neil is doing an admirable job with limited resources and has turned his team into a highly effective counter-attacking unit.

Wolves vs Tottenham: VAR controversy

VAR has been in the headlines all season, with some shocking mistakes made across the division.

And last weekend, Arsenal went to another level when releasing a statement calling out the decisions made against them during their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.

But if any team should have been releasing statements, it's Wolves.

In four games this season, the Old Gold have been robbed by VAR, which by the end of the year could cost them.

Against Manchester United, they were denied a blatant penalty when Sasa Kalajdzic was clattered by Andre Onana.

Since then, three terrible penalty decisions have gone against them in games against Luton, Newcastle and Sheffield United.

All three were scored and denied them valuable points.

O'Neil has rightly complained, and you just have to hope it won't make too much of a difference for them by the end of the year.

Wolves vs Tottenham: What has been said?

Wolves boss O'Neil is expecting refereeing standards to improve after speaking to Howard Webb.

He said: "I had a good conversation with Howard Webb on Sunday – a very open one around trying to improve things.

"I understand where he is. He is trying to run his own team as well and they are obviously under a lot of pressure at the moment.

"After the chat, I am confident they are trying to shift things in the right direction and to put things in place to ensure there are fewer errors.

"They don't want to be making errors every weekend and having me phoning on a Sunday and having clubs releasing statements, that's not what they need either.

"They understand that the things that have gone against us this year probably shouldn't have. There's probably an agreement that a lot of the decisions that have gone against us have been incorrect."
