Ghana have appointed Chris Hughton as the new national team head coach.
The 64-year-old had been the technical advisor of Ghana since February 2022, assisting former coach Otto Addo in building a squad that competed at the World Cup in Qatar last year.
But Hughton will now take over and lead the national team, with Ghana also confirming that assistant coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani will continue in their roles.
The Ghana FA said in a statement: “The Ghana Football Association has the pleasure to appoint Chris Hughton as head coach of the Black Stars following extensive deliberations between the two parties.

“The appointment is in line with the vision of the GFA to continue with the project of building a formidable squad that started with Otto Addo in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.
“Mr. Hughton has been the technical advisor of the Black Stars for the past twelve months.
“The GFA has also decided to maintain assistant coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
“The three coaches were part of the technical team for the World Cup in Qatar.
“Details about the duration of the contract and terms of engagement would be announced in due course.”
Hughton was caretaker manager with Tottenham Hotspur on two occasions before taking his first permanent managerial role in 2009-10 at Newcastle United. He has since gone on to have spells at Birmingham City, Norwich City, Brighton and Nottingham Forest.
It will be the first time Hughton has stepped back into management since he left Forest in 2021. He was dismissed after picking up just one point from their opening seven matches of the season.
Ghana were knocked out in the group stage of the World Cup after finishing bottom of Group H.
