Rumors are swirling about a major cast shake-up on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, and one report claims that Bravo has forced NeNe Leakes to sit out at least half of the upcoming season. Is it possible that Leakes will not be a part of Season 12?
According to Lovebscott.com, Leakes’ altercation with an RHOA crew member during last season’s “Closetgate” has led to producers sidelining her for the first half of the upcoming season. During the Season 11 reunion, the ladies revealed that there was much more to Closetgate than what viewers saw.

Apparently, Leakes put her hands on a crew member and knocked out a tooth, and the incident landed him in the hospital.
“For that reason, in addition to NeNe’s ‘bad attitude’ in dealing with producers and execs behind the scenes, sources tell lovebscott.com that NeNe has been forced to ‘sit out’ for at least the first part of the season — maybe longer — as the ladies begin filming,” reported the website.
The outlet also claims that Leakes will lose the majority of her paycheck for the upcoming season because she is paid per episode. Since Leakes is the highest-paid Housewife, with a salary for Season 12 that is reportedly just under $3 million – she could lose a lot of cash if she is not part of half of the episodes.
Lovebscott.com also claims that Bravo is looking to replace Leakes, but there was no word on who they were looking at to fill her shoes.
To fuel the rumor, Leakes posted a selfie on Instagram where she is spitting out her tongue and flashing a peace sign. In the caption, she wrote “Happiness over everything,” and added the hashtag #byeforever.
Despite the report from Lovebscott.com and the cryptic tweet from Leakes, her rep says that Bravo has not shut the RHOA OG out of filming the upcoming season.

“I can say with authority that there is absolutely no truth to this. The only reason why she’s not currently shooting is because she is still in active negotiations with her contract,” said the rep.
As fans know, Leakes is not on the best of terms with the rest of the RHOA cast, but that doesn’t mean she will be sitting out Season 12. The ladies just started filming, and Leakes should be joining them shortly.
