10 Must Hear Christmas Covers For The Festive Season

June 2024 · 5 minute read

As you’ve probably realised at CelebMix we love our Christmas songs, from some great original tracks to the songs which hit the top spot for Christmas. But what’s about our favourite covers? Let’s be honest a whole lot of artists have covered some festive classics, here’s just ten we’re listening to on repeat at the moment.

The Vamps – We Wish You A Merry Christmas

This track believed to be from the sixteenth century is impossible to not sing along to and fall in love with especially with The Vamps special take on it. It’s fast, fun, frantic and feel-good summing up what Christmas really is about. There’s also a cheeky video to match where the quartet turn into festive rockstars especially Connor with his Scottish shouts, we love this cover and you will too!

Michael Bublé – It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Would it really be Christmas without some Bublé musical magic? The answer to that is NO. Arguably one of the most popular tracks he’s covered the festive jingles and strong vocals are a winning combination making this a contender for our favourite ever cover. We’ll be honest, once we pop Bublé’s Christmas album on we know that the festive season has well and truly begun.

Jessie J – Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town

You’ve probably already heard this version of the Christmas classic as it’s absolutely everywhere this time of year thanks to Jessie’s absolutely stunning vocal take on the track. Sticking to the big band vibes of the original, we find ourselves singing along with a smile on our face as we feel especially festive after listening to this track. Check out the cute, eye-catching animated video below.

Ariana Grande – Last Christmas

Taken from her debut EP Christmas Kisses, the songstress took on Wham!’s classic and turned it into a completely reworked track. With lyric changes and an edgy R&B sound on the track, it’s been given the Ariana Grande makeover which maybe explains why we love this so much that it’s been on repeat more than we care to admit…

Sam Smith – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

This stunning, soulful take on the loved track is beyond beautiful. Oozing in passion, emotion and magic it’s everything we’d expect from Sam Smith in a track. We feel a little bit warm and fuzzy inside as we think back on Christmases in the past but also the ones yet to take place. We’ll definitely have ourselves a merry little Christmas with this track soundtracking it.

Gwen Stefani – Let It Snow

You might not associate Gwen with Christmas but with the release of her album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas in 2017 we have a new festive queen in the making. This rockier version of the classic track makes you want to be out there having a little dance in the snow just appreciating all your surroundings and everyone you’re there with. Let it snow maybe after we’re home from work for Christmas yeah?

New Hope Club –  All I Want For Christmas Is You

We recently told you about New Hope Club’s superb cover of All I Want For Christmas Is You and we just had to include it in our top 10. The trio’s vocals compliment each other and all get their chance to shine before coming together to make something really delightful to brighten up the cold winter days. The video features the winner of Blue Peter’s competition in connection with IET for someone to create the video treatment for the track and even features the winner getting her own special NHC show. We’re a little bit jealous, can we have one too, please?

Destiny’s Child – Silent Night

Without even trying to Destiny’s Child have become the ultimate festive girl band, with their cover of Silent Night but also their original track 8 Day’s Of Christmas they’re regulars to Christmas playlists. The vocals on this cover are absolutely beautiful, it’s a stripped back track which captivates every bit of your attention. We’re in awe of the slick harmonies which are showcased through, this really is a special song.

Kylie Minogue – Santa Baby

The queen of pop’s take on Christmas brings an element of sexy sassy to Santa Baby whilst sticking to the original but with a sprinkle of Kylie magic. The video sees her frolicking around a decorated tree dressed up in festive attire including some fetching reindeer antlers, Kylie definitely started off this trend! It’s fun and very festive and featuring in our top 10 thanks to how good we feel listening to it.

Leona Lewis – Winter Wonderland

We miss Leona Lewis’ vocals regularly on the airwaves but her cover of Winter Wonderland will continued to be played at absolutely any opportunity. The bright, upbeat track makes us feel as if we’re somewhere far away in a snowy landscape having the time of our lives which we absolutely love.
